On Wednesday the 6th and Thursday 7th of September two guest speakers, Jeffrey Allen and Agatha Hidalgo visited us as part as The Healthy Lifestyle Program.
Jeffrey spoke to us about his life in the Special Forces. He told us how we grew up with a stammer and was also too shy to talk. He dropped out of school at fifteen. As he grew he gained more confidence and learned how to take care of himself.
Agatha spoke to us about nutrition. We learned what foods we should eat to stay healthy. We watched two videos showing us the amount of sugar in our daily diet and the effects of it and about meditation. We also learned about The Six Components to a Healthy Lifestyle and how we should divide our time. We were divided into four teams and took part in seven activities.
Each team took part in all the seven activities. At the end of the two days I learned how to work better in a team. I found that not everyone works the same and how we have to compromise for everyone to finish the game. I also learned that my diet at the moment isn’t very good and that I need to focus more on my health. I also learned a lot of fun new exercises that will help to make me fitter.
Reflection: Over the course of the two days I found myself becoming more motivated to improve myself. I found that working in large teams helped me to become closer to people I usually don’t speak to. Overall, I think that this was a very worthwhile experience and am very happy that I took part. Now that the two day course is complete I have become more motivated to watch what I am eating and exercise more regularly.
