Our Trip to Delphi ( Sept 20th - 22nd ) On Wednesday the 20th to Friday the 22nd of September, our TY group stayed in Delphi in Connemara.
On the first day Wednesday we were divided into groups, half went surfing while the others did high ropes.
I did the high ropes. The first activity was to walk across a beam in the air using ropes to get across then we had to walk across another with no ropes. The second activity that we took part in was to climb to the top of a wooden pole. We then had to jump off and try to reach two red balls hanging in front of the pole. The final activity was a group activity. Four people had to climb to the top of a wooden pole and stand at the top on a very small surface. Once everyone was up we all had to lean back, holding arms and see if we could support each other. We couldn't. During all of these activities we wore helmets and harnesses.
For the evening activity we climbed through tunnels trying to find our way out. We also went a walk. The next day we took part in the Gaisce Adventure walk. It was 27km. It was a very long, torturous walk. When we came back to the centre we took part in a campfire as an entire year. We all sang songs together and had a lot of fun. On our final day in Delphi my group went surfing. This was my favourite part of the trip. We learned a lot about safety in the water and had a lot of fun doing so. Although we were all terrible at surfing I thought that it was a very enjoyable and memorable activity.
Reflection
Over all I thought that our trip to Delphi was very fun. I really enjoyed the activities we took part in even though I was scared doing them all! I enjoyed playing soccer in the adventure hub and getting closer to others in my year. Although I didn’t get along with everyone I thought that it was a very worthwhile trip! If I could change one thing I would have brought my own food!
