On Tuesday October 10th, 3 people from Transition Year went to The Bailey Allen Hall in NUIG, in Galway. 200 students met here to receive their award for achieving an 'A' grade in higher level Business in the Junior Cert.
Therese Keane, Eric Duane and I from Portumna Community School. We met at 7 o'clock in the Bailey Allen Hall, but many people were late due to the heavy traffic in the City. The ceremony began with a quiz about the recent Budget. We listened to many different guest speakers talking about their degree in Business and different business courses available in NUIG.
Next, it was time for us all to receive our certificates. Each school was seated together and they received their awards line by line. We were told that our achievement was very rare, that only 8.4% of people who took higher level business received this grade.
Overall, I thought that it was a nice ceremony and made me happy that I worked so hard for the last three years and it finally paid off.
